Introduction

Yueling is a young Viera, blessed by the light of Hydaelyn. He originates from Yanxia and ran away from his village when he was 19, starting his adventure to Eorzea.
His main job is red mage. He used to fight with a thin sword in a dance-like fashion when he was younger. After studying Black and White magic, he mastered the red magic and discovered his own balance to unleash his true potential.
In addition to excelling in the art of magic, he is capable of using a wide range of weapons and is skilled at crafting anything required. He is most famous for his skills as an alchemist and armorer among all of them.

Ever since the fight against Yotsuyu, it has been emitting a mystic red aura when facing strong opponents.

His iconic earring given by Raha. It's a small steamed bun that was offered to Yueling because he likes to call him his Bao (宝).

Yueling's birth date was in 1999, which means he was born in the Year of the Rabbit. This year is under the Earth sign, making Yueling have a good affinity with this element.

Yueling is tied to the moon in a lot of different ways, for example his name is composed of the three following characters: 朱 Zhu for Crimson, 月 Yue for The Moon and 灵 Ling for The spirit.
The hints of red in his clothing are to represent his clan, and the dominant black color of his design is also to reference the association between the moon and the 阴 Yin.

The nameday of Yueling is the 25th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon corresponding to the date of the Mid-Autumn festival in 1999. As Yueling is referencing not only the moon but Chang’e myth. His red eyes is to mimic the white rabbits that are with her. He would also turn white when he transforms to mimic them even more.

His ancestor Lagós (λαγός) has died after sacrificing himself for Hermès during the last days. In his memory Venat, who loved to talk about rabbits with him, put the lopporits on the moon, hoping that one day he would be able to find them.
This is referencing to the Jatakas tale where a rabbit offer himself to a hermit for him to survive. Touched by the sacrifice of the rabbit, the hermit drew the rabbit on the moon for all to see.

In the Chinese myth of Chang’e, the rabbit on the moon are crafting an elixir of life for her to live long. In reference to this Yueling excels in the job by hand, but especially with Alchemy and healing.
